citrine

Citrine is the yellow or golden yellow variety of quartz. The yellow coloration, due to the presence of iron, is also responsible for the name, derived from the word ‘citrus‘.

Crystal Structure:  Trigonal

Composition:  Silicon dioxide

Hardness:  7
Metaphysical Properties:  Citrine is one of the two minerals on the planet which does not hold and accumulate negative energy, but dissipates and transmutes it, working-out problems on both the physical and subtle levels. It, hence, never needs clearing or cleansing.

Citrine activates, opens, and energises the naval and solar plexus chakras, directing, via personal power, creativity, and intelligent decisiveness, the energy necessary to enhance the physical body. It stimulates both mental focus and endurance.

Citrine, especially in the faceted form, stimulates the crown chakra, allowing for synthesis between the intellect and total perfection. It is , therefore, helpful in problem solving, for facilitating recognition of resolutions to mental conundrums, and for promoting mental awareness on a moment-to-moment basis.

It is said to stimulate openness and to accelerate the wakening of the mind.

It can also be helpful in the treatment of digestive – and blood circulation disorders.
Occurrence:  Gem-quality citrine is extremely rare. The best material is found in Brazil, Spain, Madagascar, and the former USSR.
Remark:  Citrine has been used to imitate topaz and was once called Brazilian topaz.
